The Rufus Oates Award

2018 Rufus Oates Awawd.jpg

Our achievement award, the "Rufus Oates Award" was designed for members of our association only, to honor one of our members, for their outstanding contribution and achievement, in a calendar year. The criteria for the award is simple. Any member who assumes responsibility, and completes those tasks with positive and professional results, will receive consideration for the award.

The award was named after a gentle man who truly cared about Dee Jays, whether you earned a living at the job, or just did it as an avocation. He was a person who cared about you as a customer, as well as a human being. He was just a nice guy!

Judy Collins & Jeannie Elmore, daughters of Rufus Oates, are presented with a commemorative plaque that will hang in Judy's House of Oldies in North Myrtle Beach, noting each recipient of the "Rufus Oates Award" from The NAR&BDJS. Members present: Director Sue Kestner, Jackie Kestner, Director John Hall, Director Mike Little, and President Mike Hall.
